Autumn Masks: Artwork by 1st Year students

NEWS / 10 February 2011

Emer Downes describes how 1st Year Art students made Autumn masks.

Autumn Masks 1st YearIn Autumn all the 1st Year students collected different varieties of leaves. We used these leaves to make designs for autumn masks. First we drew the leaves and then coloured them in using the Autumn shades with oil pastels. We then took our drawings and used them as inspiration for a mask design. When we were happy with our designs we then made them out of clay. When the clay was dry we painted them in Autumn colours. In the end they all turned out brilliant!
