Ruth Somers (5th Year) describes the visit to Microsoft on Thursday, 7th November.
On Thursday, 7th November, the 5th Year LCVP class went to Microsoft Ireland in Leopardstown. At 9am, the five 5th Year students and Mr. Desmond took a taxi to the modern and impressive Microsoft buildings. Once we arrived, we waited in the reception area, while testing the new Microsoft Office update on the many devices out on display.
Then, we were greeted by the Communications Manager, Robert Deering who gave us a presentation of the tasks and responsibilities he has in the business. He told us of the success of the business, of what it is like to work at Microsoft and he gave us a tour of the building. We were mostly impressed by the gaming room, which he told us is where employees go to take a break wehn in the middle of a stressful task or project.
We all really enjoyed the presentation give by the young and enthusiastic Robert Deering, and it was interesting learning about the type of business Microsoft is and how successful it is.

The 1st years completed a zombie lab today where they used their scientific methods and thinking to identify patient zero from the zombie suspects. Using measuring skills, pH, observation skills and much more they successfully identified the source of the outbreak!

The TY Horticulture class were out in the Autumn sunshine planting Spring bulbs using the chaos planting method. This is when a multitude of different spring bulbs (Hyacinths, Daffodils, Tulips, Crocuses, Narcissi) are mixed together and randomly planted so that we have a mixture of flowers and patterns emerging in the spring. It mimics nature and so is more enticing to pollinators and native insects that need the food in Spring.
Stratford is celebrating Maths Week 2026 (12th - 18th October) with daily activities around the school, at breaktimes and in Maths classes! The tutor-time daily quiz is proving to be extremely competitive as each form group tries to solve it and then run to find Ms Matthews in order to win the box of chocolates!
