6th Year Graduation, 16th May 2014
On Friday, 16th May, the school hall was beautifully arranged by Mrs. Bondi and the Student Council for the 6th Year Graduation. The speeches were thought provoking by Ms. Gordon, Student Council Representatives and the Chairman of the Stratford College Parents Association. There were a number of musical interludes provided by the students and a terrific 6th Year Graduation video. Parents, teachers, friends and past-pupils enjoyed a wonderful meal managed by Mrs. Gresak. Thank you to Brendan also for having the hall and school looking so splendid.

TY Graduation and Sports Assembly, 12th May 2014
The Sports Assembly was held as part of the Transition Year Graduation on Monday, 12th May. Prizes were presented to students who won events on Sports Day. Well done to everyone! Well done to the Transition Year students who also graduated on the same day. They showed us their Irish Film, played music, sang individually and as a whole group, and virtually all the students spoke about different aspects of their experience in Transition Year. They also put together a TY video which captured their experiences of the year - it can be viewed on the Stratford YouTube channel.

Sports Day, 6th May 2014
Sports Day 2014 dawned to a sunny morning with lots of white clouds blown by the wind. With just a few showers forecast for the afternoon, the weather was perfect for all the activities organised by Ms. Finnegan. Sports Day kicked off at 11:15am with Basketball and Football, while there was ongoing amusement with the Sumo Suits and the blow-up Obstacle Course. The Three-Legged race finished off the morning's activities. After lunch, sprints, tug-of-war and more basketball and football matches were held. It was a very chilled day with musical entertainment provided by the the 5th Year students. Well done to Ms. Finnegan and to all the students who help her make it a great day!

School Walk, 1st May 2014
On an overcast May morning the school set off from Crone Wood car park, to walk a part of the Wicklow Way which skirts Djouce Mountain. After a few food and drinks breaks and a deluge of rain the 10km walk ended above Lough Tay on the Roundwood-Glendalough road. Thanks to the 5th Year LCVP class and Mr. Desmond for organising a day of two halves (on the weather-front)!

SciFest@Stratford, 29th April 2014
The first ever SciFest was hosted in Stratford College, on Tuesday 29th April when the TY students exhibited their Scratch programming projects to three SciFest@Schools judges and to the whole school. Not only was it a first for Stratford but it was also the first SciFest@Schools to feature Scratch programming projects in Ireland! Thank you to the judges, Sheila Porter, CEO of SciFest; Brian Gillespie, Lecturer in the School of Computing, DIT and Dee Slattery, Lecturer in Scratch and other technologies, Blackrock Education Centre. The judges were really impressed by all the programming work done by the students. Well done to all the prizewinners! SciFest@Stratford was arranged by Mr. Desmond and Ms. O'Kelly.

Stratford College Talent Show, 11th April 2014
The Student Council and Prefects organised a terrific Talent Show on Friday, 11th April to round off a busy and dynamic term. Students had auditioned for the show at the end of March and the depth of talent by the students was on display at Friday's show. Students sang, in some cases accompanied by others, in some cases not; a poem was recited, a song was rewritten all about Ms. O'Kelly and the Library and a variety of instruments were played. It was a most enjoyable end to the term. Thanks to all the Prefects, the Student Council, Ms. Doran and Brendan for making it such a success.

Dress-up Day for Festival of Purim, 14th March 2014
On the 14th March, the Student Council and the Prefects organised the annual dress-up day to celebrate the Festival of Purim. Everyone from 1st Years to the teachers participated and had a wonderful time dressing up as a fictional character of their choice. There was a wide range of costumes presented on the day, such as ‘Wizard’, ‘The Pink Ladies’ and ‘Lady Macbeth’. It was a great success as everyone’s costumes were very creative and we also raised over €100 for the Irish Heart and Stroke Foundation.

Seachtain na Gaeilge Concert, 13th March 2014
This year's Seachtain na Gaeilge Concert held on Thursday, 13th March 2014, was jam-packed with talent. Students from each year contributed to the many acts that made up the concert. The TY Irish class also show-cased their Irish film which they wrote, produced, edited and directed themselves. There was also a video of some of the Stratford National School pupils talking in Irish. We also viewed a bit of history by watching 'Riverdance' when it was first performed at the interval of the Eurovision Song Contest in May, 1994 - almost 20 years ago! Thanks to Ms. Ivers and Ms. Doran who put so much time into making this a most enjoyable afternoon, and to all the students who rehearsed so much to make it a very professional performance.

Battle of the Bands, 5th March 2014
The annual Battle of the Bands competition kicked off at 7pm on Wednesday, 5th March 2014. Organised by TY students - with sound checks in place, Green Room buzzing with the bands and their back-up support, tuck-shop busy selling sweets and raffle tickets a-flying - this year's Battle of the Bands proved to be very efficiently run, with the whole schedule running like clockwork. There was some great music and the atmosphere was buzzing as the breaks between the bands were filled by great music by the DJ. Thanks to Mr. Desmond, the three judges and all those who helped make it a great night.
