NEWS / 25 April 2017

Hearty congratulations to Oonagh and Senan Delargy who were selected as the 2017 Regional Winners of the Green Schools Ambassador Programme for the Leinster Region on Monday, 24th April.

Oonagh and Senan Delargy have been selected as the 2017 Regional Winners of the Green-Schools Ambassador Programme for the Leinster Region!
The above was the opening line to an email I received at 1.09pm on Monday the 24th April. The email was from An Taisce to announce the regional winners and acknowledge all of the influential work they had done. Oonagh and Senan were commended by An Taisce for acting as advocates for water conservation and sustainability in their communities. They were credited as having engaged creatively with their school and community on the water theme.
We attended two support sessions this year on how to run a successful Green-Schools Ambassador programme. There were over sixty students in attendance representing schools from all over Leinster. Only one school could win and deservedly it was Stratford College’s Green-Schools Ambassador’s Oonagh and Senan. As the Green Schools co-ordinator, it was one of the greatest moments in our committee’s history to date.
Ms. Donohoe

On Monday Oonagh and I received an email from Green Schools Ireland telling us we are Regional Green Schools Ambassadors. Only five people where picked in the whole of Ireland so it is really exciting. To become a Regional Ambassador we had to arrange events to raise awareness about Marine Litter and fill in two reports. This Thursday Oonagh and I are going to an awards ceremony with Ms Donohoe in the Radison Blu Hotel. At this ceremony we will meet the other Regional Ambassadors and find out what happens next.
