Wednesday the 30th of March was a day that held host to the annual "Reinvent" Fashion competition in Dublin’s Griffith College. An event highly anticipated by students all over the country, there were around one hundred entrants, each of whom had spent hours creating original and memorable pieces. However, the theme of the competition revolved around the reinvention of old clothes, and thus had to be manufactured from second hand garments.
I registered in the competition a day late, and the week before the event itself was nearly entirely consumed by sewing, and I would have been lost without the help of Ms. Mahon with my mood board. Sarah Corrigan (5th Year), who modelled the dress, was easily the prettiest model there and looked very professional on the catwalk, exhibiting the dress perfectly. There were some truly amazing designs that really caught our attention, but the judges had to narrow it down to six. Fortunately, they announced that Sarah and I were one of the lucky finalists, and she got the chance to walk again with the other winners. The prize is to have your design modelled by a professional in a publicised show, which will take place before the Summer holidays. We had a great day, and even got a free lunch, but the fact that we won certainly topped it off. (Click on thumbnails to open an enlarged version of photo. ))
