Michael Lawlor Rojas (5th Year) outlines the topics covered in the Student Council training course which they participated in on Wednesday, 20th February.

On Wednesday, 20th February, the Student Council received a talk from Kevin Reid, a reputable Business communication coach. A very kind and confident man, Kevin Reid cleared up and explained a variety of Student Council related manners and skills. As a group, we learned of the importance of taking and archiving the minutes of a meeting, the power of the Chair Person and the overall importance of Student Council Representatives. Not only that, but he also taught us key communication skills including positive body language, how to make a good first impression and commanding respect and attention when speaking in public.

This talk was wholly beneficial and everyone who took part learned something new. (Click on blog title to see more photos.)

On land, we did Archery, climbing, human foosball, life-sized board games and lots of table tennis. After the activities we were all famished, our hunger was erased in an instant as the chefs there prepared delicious meals. Despite the mixed weather we still got into the water. We loved every second of it, but we also loved the hot showers afterwards! In our Irish class we expanded our vocabulary, learning new words for the activities we did, then wrote and performed scripts as Gaeilge that included the new vocabulary.
