NEWS / 21 October 2013

At 8pm, on Wednesday, 23rd October, Jacinta Kitt at the invitation of the Stratford Parents Association will give a talk to parents on the topic of "Bullying Prevention". All parents and guardians are welcome.

High profiled tragedies over recent times has highlighted the advent of cyber bullying combined with more recognisable and traditional formats of both physical and verbal bullying. There is a moral responsibility on us, as parents, to address this issue – even if to comprehend what is involved so that we can recognise the symptons and have the ability to work with the school community to deal with such issues competently. A recent NUI survey showed that 17% of 12 to 18 year olds have faced some form of bullying and an EU Kids Online (Ireland Report) confirmed that 23% of 9 to 16 year olds were victims of cyber bullying.

Stratford Parents Association has recognised that in addition to providing information to our fellow parents, we all, as individual parents, have a role to play in supporting our children and the work of  our school and its commuity. In this regard, Jacinta Kitt, lecturer and media contributor on bullying in both schools and the work environment will address the Parents of Stratford College on October 23rd next at 8.00pm on the topic of ‘Bullying Prevention’. All parents and guardians welcome.
