Thanks to Ms Sulyk and the Stratford Parents Association, the Careers Evening on Thursday 30th April was a fantastic success! Done in a speed-dating format, students had 7 minutes to listen to a huge variety of people working in different industries and careers.

Students, staff and guests were excited to hear from one of Ireland’s most respected figures as she shared insights into her personal life, career, and political experiences.

On the 29th of April, Stratford College welcomed The High School for a debate between the junior teams on the motion ‘Artificial Intelligence is a force for Global Good’. The Junior team, captained by Cian, argued the proposition, with teammates Jack, Robert and Anastasiia focusing on the fact that AI is neither good nor bad in and of itself; it is a tool, and it is up to use how we use it.

On the 27th of April the TY’s went camping in Larch Hill as a part of the Rite Journey, it was called the abyss, we slept in single tents far away from each other, before going to sleep we had a sing along around a campfire and one of the students brought a guitar!

On the 27th of April, 6th years visited the National Library’s Seamus Heaney exhibition ‘Listen Now Again’ on Westmoreland Street. The class studied Heaney’s poetry for their exams, and this immersive exhibition provided a fascinating glimpse into Heaney’s working process, featuring his humble writing desk, alongside drafts of his poems, letters and postcards and interview footage.

Delia Donohoe has been appointed as Permanent Deputy Principal of Stratford College, following her tenure as Acting Deputy Principal since August 2023. This milestone marks her 21st year as a dedicated member of the Stratford community, where she has made a lasting contribution both in the classroom and in leadership.
Speaking about her appointment Chair of the Board of Management Ms. Aoife Cassidy said: “I am delighted to announce the appointment of Delia as Deputy Principal; she has been a leader and teacher at Stratford College for more than 20 years. During this time, she has served in an acting capacity as Deputy Principal, including over the last three years. She has strong leadership skills and an unwavering commitment and dedication to our school community. We have every confidence that she will continue to lead with the same energy, warmth and dedication in the years ahead. We are delighted to formally confirm Delia’s appointment and wish her every success in the role going forward.
On a bi-annual basis, Stratford College and The High School's Student Councils meet. These occasions offer neighbouring schools and their young leaders the opportunity to meet together to discuss how their individual councils have developed, the successes they have enjoyed, the initiatives and fundraising they have been involved in. This has proven useful to individual School Councils as a way of learning from the experiences of others.
