5th Years compete in All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad (AILO) preliminary round

NEWS / 27 January 2023

On Monday, 23rd January all the 5th years competed in the preliminary round of the All Ireland Linguistics Olympiad. The qualification mark for the National Final this year was 74.9%. While no Stratford student qualified, well done to Sam who just missed out on the Finals, getting 72.98%. So, so close!

Well done to Yoan, Charlie and Georgii who all achieved above 61%! Students have to answer 5 linguistic challenges in two hours using logic and problem solving skills.

In total 1044 students from 106 schools in 30 counties took part. Many thanks to Ms Dos Santos who has been running the Linguistics Club at lunchtime every Wednesday since September. The 5th years have also been practicing AILO problems in Computer Studies classes throughout January.
