Junior Certificate Classical Studies Winner Stratford College Nov 2018

Stratford student awarded the Jack Henderson Medal for the top mark in the 2018 Junior Certificate for Classical Subjects

Congratulations to Alexey who won the Jack Henderson Medal which is awarded annually by the Classical Association of Ireland (CAI) to the student who has achieved the top mark in the Junior Certificate for Classical Studies. Alexey was presented with his medal by CAI President, Tom Seaver at the CAI Presidential Address in UCD on 30th November 2018.

Stratford past pupil (2018) awarded Trinity College Dublin Entrance Exhibition

Congratulations to Sam O'Brien (2018) who will be honoured with a TCD Exhibition Award on Tuesday, 20th November 2018. Sam is currently a 1st Year Physical Sciences student.

Stratford past pupil (2014) receives French Government Medal and NUI (UCD) Prize for proficiency in French

Congratulations to Alice Murphy (2014) who was recently awarded a French Government Medal and NUI Prize for proficiency in French. Alice recently graduated with a BComm from UCD (2018).

Stratford College teacher presents at Researchmeet of FÉILTE 2018

At the Researchmeet Ms O'Kelly, in collaboration with co-researchers from Trinity College Dublin, outlined their findings from their research through an exploratory case study of aspects of the Leaving Certificate Computer Science Draft Specification using the Bridge21 Learning Model, developed in Trinity College.

FÉILTE is the Teaching Council’s annual Festival of Education in Learning and Teaching Excellence which celebrates the wonderful work that teachers do every day in their classrooms and gives teachers the opportunity to collaborate and share this work with each other and with the wider public.

Stratford College one of 9 schools chosen to participate in DES School Excellence Fund - Step Up Project

The Minister for Education and Skills, Richard Bruton T.D., today (Friday, 21st September 2018) announced the launch of the School Excellence Fund – Step Up Project.

Nine schools from across the country are participating in the initial pilot phase taking place over the coming school year.

The Step Up Project focuses on supporting schools to ‘step up’ in the delivery of the new Junior Cycle programme. Schools will work together and will be supported by the Inspectorate, who will help with planning and the JCT, who will provide additional teacher training. 

The School Excellence Fund approach, which focuses on encouraging local collaboration and innovation, is key to delivering on the governments overall ambition to making Ireland’s education and training service the best in Europe by 2026.

Two Stratford College student writers featured in 2018 Irish Times Fighting Words supplement

The 2018 Irish Times Fighting Words supplement was published on Tuesday, 15th May 2018. Congratulations to Grace Robbins (1st Year) and to Nellie Warren (3rd Year) who were both selected for inclusion based on the quality of their writing.

TY students come 1st and 2nd in their respective categories at SciFest@College 2018 (IT Blanchardstown)

At the SciFest@College competition in IT Blanchardstown on 2nd May 2018 two group projects won prizes. TY students, Jack Cassin and Rory Glynn came 1st in the Intermediate section of the Technology category and fellow TY students, Laura Kelly, Alan Farrell and Kharisma Messam came 2nd in the Intermediate section of the Life Sciences category.

TY students win Euroscola competition to visit European Parliament in Strasbourg

TY students were extremely excited on Friday, 1st December  when they found out that they were the Dublin Winner of the European Parliament's Euroscola 2017 competition.  TY students and some 5th Year students visited the European Parliament on Friday, 1st February 2018 with Ms. Kenny and Ms. Gordon.
