TY students visit Jewish Museum

NEWS / 17 May 2017

Ms. Donohoe and Ms. Caspi brought the TY students on a visit to the Jewish Museum on Tuesday, 16th May.

Thanks to Yvonne from the Jewish Museum for giving the group an insightful and interesting talk. The transition year students sat in the former synagogue upstairs in the museum and heard a brief overview of the influence of the Irish Jewish community on Irish politics and culture.

After some questions and answers the students had time to look at the different exhibition cabinets. Each student was asked to pick three artefacts of personal interest from the collection and give reasons for their choices. I look forward to hearing about these artefacts in more detail when the students complete their summer exam. After the museum we stopped at the Bretzel Bakery for a sweet treat.

Many thanks to Ms. Caspi for helping with the trip and the Transition Years for engaging fully with the event. Students and teachers agreed that another visit to the museum is needed to do justice to experiencing the extensive collection.
