Science Week 2018: from Art to Animals to Sensory Workshops

NEWS / 16 November 2018

Science Week 2018 (12th - 16th November) was celebrated in a myriad of different ways throughout the week. The TYs organised a week of workshops and events in the hall and the 2nd Years went to the National Gallery of Ireland to see the "Art in Mind - How Nature Inspires" Exhibition. Watch the Science Week @ Stratford College video on our YouTube channel.

Activities were planned for classes too. 2nd and 3rd Years participated in the Bebras Computational Thinking Challenge. The workshops and events organised by the TYs included:

  • Frankenstein Talk: Science Fiction and Science
  • Sensory Workshop
  • Electron Game
  • and the highlight of the week for many students - the animals! We loved the meerkat!

In Computer Studies classes, 2nd and 3rd Years participated in the Bebras Challenge - an online international computational thinking competition. It is run by Maynooth University and we hope that some Stratford students will be selected to compete in the National Finals next May!

A huge thanks to Ms O'Sullivan, Mr Fennell, Mr Byrne and the TYs for organising such a fantastic week! See also the 2018-2019 Web Gallery.
