6th Year Graduation, 19th May 2017

On Friday, 19th May, the school hall was beautifully arranged by Ms Kenny and the Student Council for the 6th Year Graduation. The speeches were thought provoking by Ms. Gordon, Ms. McGuckin and Student Council Representatives. Ms. Gordon thanked both Ms. Ivers and Ms. McCarthy on their inspirational and tireless work while working in Stratford. Parents, teachers, friends and past-pupils enjoyed a wonderful buffet made by Hillary and Lynne - our wonderful tuck-shop ladies. Thank you to Brendan also for having the hall and school looking so splendid.

Sports Assembly and TY Graduation, 17th May 2017

The Sports Assembly was held as part of the Transition Year Graduation on Wednesday, 17th May. Prizes were presented to students who won events on Sports Day. Well done to everyone! Well done to the Transition Year students who also graduated on the same day. A lot of the TYs spoke about the experiences that they had during the year, with musical interludes throughout the Graduation. Thanks to Ms. Finnegan, Mr. Byrne, Mr. Priestley and Nath for ensuring everyone in the whole school had a terrific sporting year!

Sports Day, 4th May 2017

This year's Sports Day, Thursday, 4th May, was another perfect day for a Sports Day - sunny but not too hot. Everyone was delighted, none more so than Ms. Finnegan and her group of helpers. The Sports Day timetable and teams were posted a week in advance, so that everyone knew what they had to do on the day. This year the "Relax Zone" was introduced by the TYs, Ms. McCarthy and Ms. Donohoe and set up in the school garden. What a success that was! What a busy day for all concerned - Junior and Senior Basketball, Junior and Senior Soccer, 3-legged races for all years, Junior and Senior Sprints, Junior and Senior Tug-of-War, as well as the obstacle course and the sumo wrestling. School Walk, 5th April 2017

This year's school walk was much earlier than usual - at the end of the Spring term on Wednesday, 5th April. It was a beautiful morning for a walk. The school set off from Crone Wood car park, to walk a part of the Wicklow Way which skirts Djouce Mountain. After a few food and drinks breaks the 10km walk ended above Lough Tay on the Roundwood-Glendalough road.  Thanks to the TYs with Ms. Brouder for organising a great day which was in aid of the World Wildlife Fund.  Go to the LCVP/Business blog for more details and photos.

History Trip to Krakow, Poland. 2nd - 4th April 2017

From 2nd - 4th April a group of TY students and some 5th Year students went on a History trip to Krakow in Poland with Ms. Kenny, Ms. Finnegan and Ms. Fanning. Highlights of the trip included visiting the Wieliczka Salt Mines, Oscar Schindler's Factory and a guided tour of Krakow. The trip also included a visit to Auschwitz-Birkenau. Oliver! 7th & 8th December 2016

Stratford College Productions presented Oliver! on two consecutive nights - Wednesday, 7th December and Thursday 8th December - to great applause. The huge amount of effort put in by the actors on-stage and the back-stage production, under the steady direction of Mr. Downes ensured that it was always going to be a great success. Well done to everyone and to Brendan for having the stage and seating arrangements in place.

Israeli Young Ambassadors visit Stratford College, 5th December 2016

On Monday, 5th December, Stratford College played host to a group of secondary school students from Israel who came to Ireland for a week as part of the Young Ambassadors of Israel programme. Thanks to Ms Donohoe and Ms Kenny for organising a fantastic day.

Science Week: 21st - 25th November 2016

This year's Science Week was action-packed, with students going on field trips to various parts of Ireland. On Monday (21st), 5th and 6th Year students visited some of Trinity's Labs; Tuesday (22nd), 1st and 2nd Years went to W5 in Belfast; Wednesday (23rd), 3rd Years went to the Blackrock Castle Observatory in Cork and on Friday (25th) the whole school was treated to a surprise ... reptiles of all shapes and sizes. Throughout the week there were various activities in Science classes. Thanks to Ms. O'Sullivan and Mr. Fennell for organising such an engaging week. The reptiles were a huge hit!
