This year our school took part in Shave or Dye 2012 in aid of the Irish Cancer Society and co-organised by TodayFM radio. Students from 1st year to 5th year took part on Thursday, 8th March (also the festival of Purim). People dyed their hair all different colours ranging from blue to red to green to gold... All students who took part and signed up, received a t-shirt from Today FM and a sponsorship pack. We raised approximately €460. (Click on thumbnails to open an enlarged version of photo. ))

On Thursday the 8th of March the school participated in Today FMs Shave or Dye. This charity event was taking place in order to raise money for the Irish Cancer Society. This fit into the Jewish holiday Purim, as it is a custom to dress up and disguise ourselves as others.
For the day, all years dyed their hair in bright quirky colours. People dyed their hair with colours such as electric blue, fiery red, luscious purples, earthy greens and sunny yellows. This was an memorable day as there was a great atmosphere throughout the school when we all came as one to commemorate and support those who suffer from cancer. As a school we raised money to contribute to the Irish Cancer Society. We hope our contribution made a slight improvement to the lives of those it affects.
