Bhí Seachtain na Gaeilge iontach again le imeachtaí go leor chun an Ghaeilge a cheilliúradh. Ar an 14ú lá de Mhárta bhí ceolchoirm again sa scoil. Sheinn an grúpa ón mbunscoil poirt agus amhráin albanacha agus bhí said an spéisiúl ar fad. I dteannta chan daltaí ón gcéad agus an dara bliain amhráin Gaeilge dúinn. Bhí cúpla port again freisin ó chúigear cailín ón dara bliain ar an bhfeadóg stain agus Turlough Eccles (Blianta 2) ar an gcláirseach. Bhí sé an bhríomhar. Chan Ms Mulligan cúpla amhrán sean nós agus bhí sí go hálainn. Chan Katie McCrea (Blianta 3) ón triú bliain cúpla amhrán I dteannta le Alex Lai (Blianta 5) ar an bpiano agus Peter Cleary (Blianta 5) ar an saxaphone.

Sheinn muintir Lysagth cúpla port freisin agus bhí said ar fheabhas. Sheinn an t-uasal Eccles na píobaí uilinn agus thaitin sé go mór le gach duine. Chun críoch a chur leis an gceolchoirm chan An Cór agus Shelly Bukspan trí amhrán áille. Lá den scoth a bhí ann. Bhí atmaisféar an bheomhar agus corraitheach sa halla. Bhí gach duine breá sásta bheith ina n-Éireannaigh ar an ócáid sin.

5th Year music class are studying Irish music to coincide with Seachtain na Gaeilge. We have learned about the traditional and non-traditional instruments and features of Irish music. We individually chose an Irish topic to research. Some titles include U2 as an Irish band, the harping tradition, the Collectors of Irish music, Irish dances and Irish instruments. Ms.Conlon is accompanying the 1st and 2nd years as they prepare their exciting repetoire. We as a 5th Year group cannot wait for their performance. It will also enhance our learning experience of Irish music.

On Tuesday 8th March, the Córfhéile took place in the National Basketball Arena. The Stratford National School Tin Whistle Band take part in the non-competitive event every year. Students strive to do their best. The night is always a roaring success. I personally played with my 5th and 6th class when I was in Stratford National School at the Córfhéile. As a 5th Year Music student I am proud that I took part in such a big event at a young age. It was nerve-racking and stressful coming up to it and I still remember the large amount of practice. Ms. Conlon accompanies the Tin Whistle Band every year which keeps the secondary school link with this important event.

Last Friday, 4th March, the 1st and 2nd Year classes had an Irish quiz to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge. We had six rounds of continuous questions all spoken in Irish which was difficult for me and some of the other people who do not do Irish. But it was alright seeing as how some of the people in our group could easily translate the questions for us. After the end of the first three rounds Miss Charry gave us all Kit-Kats and we continued the next round. Each round had a different theme and in the end Team Two got the highest score all together. It was a very fun quiz for all and we would like to thank Ms. Ivers for organising it for us. (Click on thumbnails to open an enlarged version of photo. ))
