The film "Albert Nobbs" has received three Oscar nominations: Best Actress (Glenn Close), Best Supporting Actress (Janet McTeer) and Best Makeup (Martial Corneville, Lynn Johnston and Matthew W. Mungle). The screenplay,co-written by Glenn Close and John Banville, is based on the George Moore novella, "The Singular Life of Albert Nobbs". The soundtrack is written by US-based Irish composer Brian Byrne.
According to the website, IMDb.com, "Glenn Close plays a woman passing as a man in order to work and survive in 19th century Ireland. Some thirty years after donning men's clothing, she finds herself trapped in a prison of her own making."
The 84th Academy Awards Ceremony is on Sunday, 26th February.

It is based on "To Kill a Mockingbird". It is a radio interview with Maycomb's Sheriff, Heck Tate, about an attack on Scout and Jem Finch, which took place after Tom Robinson's trial. Listen to a podcast of the interview.

'Speedpainting' means recording yourself (on the screen) drawing a picture, speeding it up and adding music.
This was my take on one of the tasks on the tasksheet for English. When I thought of 'To Kill A Mockingbird', these are the first scenes that came into my head, so that's why I chose them.
This picture took me about 2 hours. It was done in Easy Paint Tool SAI, Photoshop CS3 and I used a G-Pen F509 (Graphics tablet) to draw. Click on the thumbnail to open an enlarged version of image.)

Book Club enthusiasts, Chad Greenblatt (1st Year), Niall Garvey (1st Year) and David Rigg (2nd Year) gather together to discuss the silent graphic novel, "The Arrival" by Shaun Tan.

This month's book is DBC Pierre's, "Vernon God Little". It's a book about fifteen year old Vernon Gregory Little who gets accused of events associated with the recent massacre of sixteen students at his high school. The Book Club will meet at lunch time on Wednesday, 22nd February.
