On Wednesday, 23rd February, as part of the LCVP 5th Year class we were welcomed into Barretstown to view the grounds and find out about all the work they do. We got to see what the money we will be raising will go towards and how many people we will be helping out by making the donation. We were given sponsorship cards, bandanas, brochures and stickers for our school and they will be handed out for the school walk in May. (Click on image to see YouTube video.)

On Tuesday, 18th January, as part of Mr Russell’s 5th Year L.C.V.P class, Marc Comiskey asked Ms Tanya Twyford, a former teacher and student of Stratford College, to take the time out of her busy schedule and come and talk to the 5th Year class about how she set up her new business, The Kitchen Wizards Cookery School. We learnt a lot about how Ms Twyford came about advertising her new business through Facebook and her personal blogs. Congratulations to Ms Twyford and we wish her all the best in the future. The winners of the 1st Year Mini Company competition, Local Fiasco, will represent Stratford College in Croke Park at the Dublin Finals in March 2011. This will involve setting up a shop, writing a Business Plan, selling their products and communicating their ideas to four judges who will come from major Irish companies. Hopefully Local Fiasco can surpass the amazing acheivement of last year's representatives from Stratford College who were awarded a tropy for the design of their shop and the originality of their products.
Bag Boutique, another 1st Year Mini Company, sold eco-friendly bags. They also arranged a raffle on the day of the competition and sold delicious cups of coca with brownies.
Totally Typically Your Life, the other 1st Year Mini Company, sold lockers mirrors for those "bad hair days" and scrumptious chocolate/marshmallow kebabs dipped in a chocolate fountain.
