Switching to Stratford

Switching to Stratford

Every year we receive calls from parents interested in moving their son or daughter to Stratford College. These are often students who have completed their Junior Cert and are entering the senior cycle.

The reasons for switching vary but in all cases it is a big decision for a whole family. We work with parents to try and make the move as seamless and positive an experience as possible.

To make sure Stratford College is the right place for your child we have a number of steps for you to follow:

  • Email or write to the Principal admin@stratfordcollege.ie if you are interested in switching to Stratford.
  • Students must meet the Principal for an interview. This applies to any student applying to attend Stratford College, except those entering 1st year from primary school.
  • Stratford will request information from the student’s previous school. This is to check their attendance levels and make sure they can cope with the demands of the year they are seeking to enter.
  • On occasion Stratford College does refuse a student wishing to transfer mid-year. This is usually due to issues around subject choices, class sizes and available resources. In such a case, we would encourage the student to re-apply for the following year.
  • Transition Year is compulsory in Stratford College.

We welcome interest from parents considering switching their child to Stratford and are happy to answer your questions on why Stratford might be a suitable choice for your child, whatever their stage.
